The short answer

Give each service its own page. Open with a short summary: what it is, who it is for, where you offer it and its pricing. Follow with your process, timelines, proof and answers to real buyer questions. Add Service and Organization structured data that matches the visible text.

  • One service per page gives AI answers a clear, specific source.
  • The first paragraph should say what, who for, where and how it is priced.
  • Honest pricing information answers one of the most common buyer questions.
  • Location pages need real local detail, not just a swapped city name.

Why does each service need its own page?

Buyers ask AI assistants specific questions, such as 'Who installs heat pumps in Leeds?' A single 'Services' page with a short list gives an answer little to work with.

A dedicated page can explain one service fully. It can answer the questions buyers ask about that service, and be cited for them.

Separate pages also help Google understand what you offer. The same structure serves classic search and AI answers.

How to structure a service page, step by step

Use the same structure on every service page so buyers and machines know what to expect.

  1. 1

    Give each service one clear URL

    Use a short, descriptive address such as /services/heat-pump-installation/. Avoid putting several services on one page.

  2. 2

    Write a direct summary first

    In two or three sentences, say what the service is, who it is for and where you offer it.

  3. 3

    Explain pricing honestly

    Give a price, a range or the factors that change the price. If you only quote, explain how quoting works and how long it takes.

  4. 4

    Describe your process

    List the stages from first contact to finished work. Include typical timeframes where you can state them truthfully.

  5. 5

    Add proof

    Show accreditations, licenses, examples of past work and links to reviews. Get permission before naming any client.

  6. 6

    Answer buyer questions

    Add a short FAQ with questions from real customers. Each answer should stand alone in two to four sentences.

  7. 7

    Add structured data

    Add Service markup that names the service, the provider and the area served. Keep it consistent with the visible page.

  8. 8

    Link related pages

    Link to related services, location pages and your contact page. Internal links help crawlers and buyers find the next step.

A service page outline you can copy

Adapt this fictional outline for each service. Keep the order, and change the headings to match how your buyers ask.

H1: Heat pump installation in Leeds
Summary: what it is, who it is for, where, how it is priced

H2: What does heat pump installation include?
H2: Who is this service for?
H2: How much does heat pump installation cost?
H2: How does the installation process work? (numbered steps)
H2: Why choose us? (accreditations, examples, reviews)
H2: Frequently asked questions

Links: related services, area pages, contact page

What structured data should a service page use?

Service is a schema.org type that describes a service and who provides it. Google does not show a special rich result for it, but it is valid structured data.

The example below is fictional. Use your real details, and only include facts shown on the page.

<script type="application/ld+json">
{
  "@context": "https://schema.org",
  "@type": "Service",
  "name": "Heat pump installation",
  "serviceType": "Heat pump installation",
  "description": "Survey, supply and installation of air source heat pumps for homes.",
  "provider": {
    "@type": "LocalBusiness",
    "name": "Example Heating Co",
    "url": "https://www.example.com"
  },
  "areaServed": { "@type": "City", "name": "Leeds" }
}
</script>

How to check it worked

Read the first paragraph of each service page aloud. A stranger should know what, who for, where and how it is priced.

Validate the structured data with the Schema Markup Validator. Then check in Search Console that each service page is indexed.

Over the next few months, ask AI assistants questions about each service in your area. Note whether your service pages are cited. WebValet Pro tracks this weekly on ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, as those features roll out.

Common mistakes on service pages

These patterns make service pages weak sources for AI answers.

  • Listing every service on one page with a sentence each.
  • Creating location pages that only swap the city name, which Google treats as doorway pages.
  • Hiding all pricing information behind a contact form.
  • Using stock text that could describe any business.
  • Copying FAQ answers from competitors.
  • Adding schema details that do not appear on the page.

Questions people ask

Do I need a separate page for every location?

Only if you can say something genuinely local on each one. Real local details include projects, staff, opening hours or service conditions. Pages that only swap the city name can count as doorway pages under Google's spam policies.

Should I publish prices if every job is different?

Share what you can, such as a starting price, a range or what affects cost. Buyers ask AI assistants about price often. Saying nothing leaves the answer to other sources.

Is FAQ schema worth adding to service pages?

It is valid structured data and labels your questions clearly. Google shows FAQ rich results only for some government and health sites, so do not expect them. Write the FAQ for buyers first.
