The short answer
Wix generates and maintains an llms.txt for eligible sites. Find it under SEO & GEO, then Tools and settings, then Go to llms.txt. You can edit it, which stops automatic updates until you reset it. Control crawlers with the robots.txt editor in the same area, and check the result on your live domain.
- Wix keeps an llms.txt up to date automatically for upgraded sites with a custom domain and indexing on.
- Editing llms.txt stops automatic updates; Reset to Default turns them back on.
- Use Wix's robots.txt editor to add or remove AI crawler rules.
- Wix warns that blocking AI crawlers can limit its NLWeb features.
Which AI crawlers should you allow?
AI companies run separate crawlers for search and for training. Search crawlers decide whether AI answers can find, cite and link you.
Training crawlers collect content that may train future models. Blocking them does not remove you from AI search.
| Keep allowed to be cited | Training crawlers, your choice |
|---|---|
| OAI-SearchBot (ChatGPT search) | GPTBot (OpenAI) |
| Claude-SearchBot (Claude search) | ClaudeBot (Anthropic) |
| PerplexityBot (Perplexity) | CCBot (Common Crawl) |
| Googlebot and Bingbot (Google, Copilot) | Google-Extended, Applebot-Extended (control tokens) |
How do you find and edit llms.txt on Wix?
Wix's help center lists three conditions: an upgraded site, a connected custom domain, and search engine indexing turned on.
- 1
Open the file
In your dashboard, go to SEO & GEO, scroll to Tools and settings, select Go to llms.txt, then View File.
- 2
Edit if needed
Open More Actions, choose Edit file, then Continue. Make changes and select Save Changes.
- 3
Know the trade-off
Once edited, Wix stops updating the file automatically. Select Reset to Default to resume automatic updates.
- 4
Turn it off
To stop serving it, switch off the toggle next to Use your llms.txt file.
How do you control AI crawlers on Wix?
Wix has a robots.txt editor in its SEO tools. Wix's own guides place it under SEO & GEO in Tools and settings, though older articles use other menu names.
Add groups for the AI crawlers you want to allow or block, then save. Open yourdomain.com/robots.txt and run the AI crawler checker to confirm.
User-agent: OAI-SearchBot Allow: / User-agent: Claude-SearchBot Allow: / User-agent: PerplexityBot Allow: /
A named group replaces the general rules for that crawler. Copy any Disallow lines you still want, such as cart or account pages, into each group.
Can you keep one page out of AI answers on Wix?
Yes. In that page's SEO settings, the Advanced tab lets you set robots meta tags. Wix says ticking nosnippet stops the page's content being used as a direct input for AI overviews.
Use this for pages you never want quoted. It also removes text snippets from normal search results.
Questions people ask
Does every Wix site get an llms.txt?
No. Wix's help center says you need an upgraded site with a custom domain and indexing turned on. Availability can vary by site type, so check your dashboard.
Will my edits to llms.txt be overwritten?
No. Editing the file stops automatic updates so your changes stay. Reset to Default brings automatic updates back.
Is blocking AI crawlers on Wix risky?
It can be. Blocked search crawlers cannot cite you, and Wix warns that blocking AI crawlers may limit its NLWeb features.
